Just Getting Started

Duke Diver runs a luxury resort in Palm Springs, where he keeps residents entertained and enjoys his standing as the most popular man on the grounds. His position is unsettled by the arrival of Leo, a former military man who competes with him for the attention of Suzie, a recent resident. The rivalry between the two men has to be set aside when Duke's past catches up with him and someone tries to kill him, pushing them to work together against the threat.

Morgan Freeman plays Duke and Tommy Lee Jones plays Leo, with Rene Russo as Suzie and supporting turns from Joe Pantoliano, Glenne Headly and Sheryl Lee Ralph. Ron Shelton directed and wrote the screenplay, and the film was produced by Steve Richards and Bill Gerber. It is the seventh feature Shelton directed, arriving after Hollywood Homicide in 2003 within a filmography that began with Bull Durham in 1988.

Released in December 2017, the action comedy runs 91 minutes and was made for a budget of 22 million dollars, against which its worldwide box office of 6 million dollars represents a significant shortfall. On IMDb it holds a rating of 4.9 out of 10 from 258 votes, while a critics' rating of 2.5 out of 10 from 23 reviews indicates that reviewers rated it considerably lower than audiences did.
