The Assignment

Frank Kitchen is a contract killer who is betrayed by a gang of criminals and ends up in the hands of a surgeon with her own reasons for wanting revenge. When he wakes after an operation he never agreed to, he finds his body has been altered and his old identity is gone. Helped by a nurse who is hiding secrets of her own, he sets out to track down those responsible.

The Assignment was directed by Walter Hill, who wrote the screenplay with Denis Hamill. It is the twenty-first of the twenty-two films he has directed, following Bullet to the Head and preceding Dead for a Dollar. Michelle Rodriguez plays Frank, with Sigourney Weaver as the surgeon, and Tony Shalhoub, Caitlin Gerard, Anthony LaPaglia and Paul McGillion among the supporting cast.

The film was made for about 5 million dollars and was released in 2016. It runs 95 minutes and is a Canadian, American and French production. On IMDb it holds a rating of 4.7 from around 9,900 votes, while on TMDB it has 5.5 from roughly 572 votes. A critics' rating of 3.9 from 63 reviews places it below even the modest audience scores, so the film drew little approval from either quarter.
