Sicario: Day of the Soldado

The drug war along the United States–Mexico border has changed. Cartels have moved into smuggling people, and among those they bring across are terrorists. To counter this, federal agent Matt Graver devises a plan to turn the organizations against each other. He brings back the mercenary Alejandro Gillick, whose own history with the cartels makes the operation deeply personal. The mission involves the daughter of a cartel boss, and the pressure mounts as it spirals beyond what its planners intended.

Sicario: Day of the Soldado is a 2018 action, crime and thriller film directed by Stefano Sollima and written by Taylor Sheridan. It is the third feature Sollima directed, following A.C.A.B. – All Cops Are Bastards (2012) and Suburra (2015), and it stands between those earlier Italian films and Tom Clancy's Without Remorse (2021). Benicio del Toro and Josh Brolin return as Alejandro Gillick and Matt Graver, with Isabela Merced, Jeffrey Donovan, Catherine Keener and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo in supporting roles. Made for a budget of 35 million USD, it took in about 76 million USD worldwide.

On IMDb the film holds 7.1/10 from roughly 190,000 votes, while on TMDB it has 6.9/10 from more than 4,000 votes. A critics' rating of 6.4/10 from 287 reviews puts it slightly below both audience scores.
