Officer Downe

Officer Downe follows a rookie policeman assigned to shadow a veteran LAPD officer who cannot stay dead. Whenever he is killed in the line of duty, a secret telepathic experiment brings him back, and he returns to the same stretch of time to continue his campaign against a criminal organization that sits at the top of Los Angeles crime. The young officer accompanying him is drawn into this cycle of extreme violence and repeated resurrection.

The film is directed by Shawn Crahan, with a screenplay by Joe Casey, and is based on Casey's comic book of the same name. Kim Coates plays the title role, and the cast includes Luna Lauren Vélez as the police chief, Sona Eyambe, Reno Wilson, Bruno Gunn and Tracy Vilar, among 39 credited performers. It runs 88 minutes and mixes action and crime with comedy and science fiction.

Released in November 2016, the film drew little enthusiasm. On IMDb it holds a rating of 4.2 from around 2,400 votes, and on TMDB it sits at 4.5 from roughly 80 votes. A critics' score of 4.9 from 12 reviews places it slightly above the audience ratings, though all three measures point to a largely negative reception.
