Short description

When eighteen-year-old Pasha rescues a beautiful young woman from a band of strangely powerful attackers, he discovers an underworld of supernatural beings living among us.

What's left behind the scenes

  • In the scene where the heroes clash with vampires, the train car was completely 'shot up' by a Vulcan six-barrel machine gun, for which 1,500 bullet-hit simulators were installed.
  • The "Base N" set—a fantasy created by the production designer, cinematographer, and director—was built over a period of a month and a half in a pavilion measuring 1,400 square meters.
  • One of the most complex sets, both to construct and to work with, was the "Mirror Room," where the interrogations of the supernatural entities take place. It was made entirely of mirrors and glass. One-way mirrors (transparent from one side and reflective from the other) were specially ordered for the set. For the cinematographer filming from outside the room, a mirror with a titanium coating was produced. For safety reasons, the entire "Mirror Room" was made of tempered glass.
  • The original title of the film was "Wings".
  • The "Special Train" set, used by the employees of Department N to move through the metro, took four weeks to build. Initially, there was an idea to use decommissioned metro cars, but this was abandoned because the cinematographer and lighting crew required a mobile set. Frames and four sections of a carriage were constructed. It differed from a standard car in its dimensions and its removable roof and walls. The train's length is 22 m, width is 2.70 m, and height is 3.5 m. The cost of the set was 5 million rubles.
  • For director Emilis Velivs, "Night Watchmen" is his first Russian film.
  • In the scene of the fight between the heroes and vampires in the train car, Yarmolnik's character aimed with a glass eye while firing a pistol.
  • Large-scale sets were constructed at the Amedia pavilions: the 'Vampires' Penthouse,' 'Secret Service Base N,' the 'Mirror Room,' a 'Special Metro Train,' as well as a hotel corridor and room.
  • Filming lasted for 56 shooting days. It began on June 30 in Moscow and concluded in mid-September 2015.
  • Several scenes were filmed in the Moscow Metro at the following stations: Vorobyovy Gory, Sportivnaya, Park Kultury, and Kurskaya.
