The House on Sorority Row

Seven sorority sisters are preparing to celebrate their graduation when the stern woman who runs their house forbids any party and orders them out by the next morning. The young women decide to get back at her with a prank, but it goes wrong and she dies. Fearing the consequences, they hide the body and go ahead with their celebration, unaware that someone saw what happened. One by one, the students are hunted through the night by a killer bent on revenge.

Mark Rosman wrote, produced and directed the film, which was his first feature and arrives at the start of a long directing career spanning decades and including later work such as Life-Size and A Cinderella Story. Kate McNeil leads the cast as Katherine, alongside Eileen Davidson, Janis Ward, Robin Meloy, Harley Jane Kozak and Jodi Draigie. The production credits about twenty-two cast members and forty-three crew.

The film was released in November 1982 and took roughly 11 million dollars worldwide, a strong return for an independent slasher. Audience ratings sit close together, at 5.9 out of 10 on IMDb from around 11,000 votes and 5.8 out of 10 on TMDB from a much smaller sample. A critics' rating of 5.2 out of 10 from twelve reviews places it slightly below those viewer scores.
