At War for Love

Set in 1943 during World War II, this film follows Arturo, a man living in New York who is in love with Flora. Because Flora has been promised to the son of a mafia boss, Arturo believes the only way to marry her is to obtain permission from her father in Sicily. Lacking the funds to travel, Arturo enlists in the United States Army to reach the island during the American landing operations.

Directed by Pif, this was the second of three films he directed, following The Mafia Kills Only in Summer and preceding God Forgives Everyone. Pif also co-wrote the screenplay with Marco Martani and Michele Astori and starred in the lead role as Arturo. The cast includes Miriam Leone as Flora, Andrea Di Stefano as Tenente Philip Catelli, and David Mitchum Brown as Franklin Roosevelt. The production was a collaboration between RAI Cinema, MiC, Wildside, and Regione Lazio.

The movie was released on October 27, 2016, with a runtime of 99 minutes. It has received generally positive feedback from viewers, holding a rating of 6.9/10 on IMDb from 2,400 votes and a 7.3/10 on TMDB from 521 votes.
