Operation Chromite

Operation Chromite is a South Korean war film set during the opening months of the Korean War in 1950. As North Korean forces push south and United Nations troops are confined to a small perimeter, General Douglas MacArthur plans a daring amphibious landing at the port of Incheon. The success of that landing depends on intelligence gathered beforehand, so a small group of South Korean agents is sent behind enemy lines under the command of a naval lieutenant. Their mission is to obtain the information MacArthur needs before the assault can begin.

The film was directed by John H. Lee, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Lee Man-hee and Sean Dulake. It followed his earlier features A Moment to Remember, 71: Into the Fire and The Third Way of Love. The cast is led by Lee Jung-jae as Jang Hak-soo, alongside Liam Neeson as Douglas MacArthur, Lee Beom-su, Jin Se-yeon, Jung Jun-ho and Kim Seon-a. Produced by Chung Tae-won and Yang Chang-hoon, it cost about 13 million US dollars and took roughly 49 million US dollars worldwide.

Audience reception was moderate: on IMDb it holds 6.2 out of 10 from over six thousand votes, and on TMDB 5.8 out of 10 from a much smaller number. A critics' rating of 5 out of 10 from twenty reviews places it below the audience scores.
