Catfight

Veronica and Ashley were once classmates, and when they meet again by chance at a party, it becomes clear how far apart their lives have drifted. Veronica is married to a wealthy businessman and moves easily in privileged circles, while Ashley paints and scrapes by, convinced of her own talent and resentful of the recognition that never comes. The encounter stirs up old grudges, and what begins as a tense exchange between the two women escalates into an outright fight whose consequences reshape both of their lives.

Onur Tukel wrote and directed this comedy-drama, the first of his features in the chronological record, ahead of Wooden Hearts and A Company of Thieves. Sandra Oh plays Veronica and Anne Heche plays Ashley, with Alicia Silverstone, Amy Hill, Myra Lucretia Taylor and Ariel Kavoussi among a credited cast of 34. Gigi Graff and Greg Newman produced for MPI Media Group, and the film runs 96 minutes.

Audience responses were mixed but not dismissive: it holds a 5.9 rating on IMDb from around 7,600 votes and a 5.6 on TMDB from a much smaller sample, while the critics' rating of 6.1 from 62 reviews sits slightly above both, suggesting reviewers found more in the material than many general viewers did.
