LAPD detective Mike Dooley and his German Shepherd partner Jerry Lee have worked together for a decade, but Jerry Lee is getting older and slower. When the dog fails to keep up during a chase, Dooley's superiors push for retirement and assign him a new team: Sergeant Welles and her highly disciplined Doberman, Zeus. Dooley resists, and the mismatch between his easygoing, scruffy style and the newcomers' strict training makes for a rough adjustment. A dangerous criminal targeting Dooley eventually forces the four of them to work as one unit.
