Short description

Three Christs follows psychiatrist Alan Stone, who works at a state hospital in Ypsilanti, Michigan, in the late 1950s. Unwilling to rely on the electroshock treatment common at the time, he takes an unusual approach with a patient who is convinced he is Jesus Christ. Stone brings the man together with two other patients who hold the same delusion, forming a group in which the three men must confront one another and their shared belief. The experiment challenges both the hospital's established methods and Stone's own assumptions.

Jon Avnet directs and shares writing credit with Eric Nazarian, and also produces alongside Molly Hassell and Daniel Levin. The film is the ninth feature Avnet directed, arriving after Have a Little Faith and before The Last Rodeo. Richard Gere plays Dr. Stone, with Peter Dinklage, Walton Goggins and Bradley Whitford as the three patients, and Charlotte Hope and Julianna Margulies in supporting roles.

On IMDb the film holds 6.3 out of 10 from roughly 4,100 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.7 from a much smaller voter pool of about 156. A critics' rating of 5.2 from 49 reviews places it below the audience scores.
