Kodachrome

Matt Ryder works in the music business, and he has not seen his father Benjamin in years. When Ben's nurse Zooey brings news that the once-daring photojournalist is terminally ill, Matt is drawn into a cross-country drive with the father he has avoided. Ben's last wish is to reach a lab in Kansas that can still develop four old rolls of Kodachrome film before it closes for good. Matt, Ben and Zooey travel together through a country moving from analogue to digital, and the journey forces the two men to confront a long estrangement.

Mark Raso directed the film, his second feature after Copenhagen, with a screenplay by Jonathan Tropper. Ed Harris plays Benjamin, Jason Sudeikis plays Matt and Elizabeth Olsen plays Zooey, supported by Bruce Greenwood, Wendy Crewson and Dennis Haysbert among a credited cast of 27.

Released in 2017 and running 105 minutes, the film is a comedy-drama produced in the United States by 21 Laps Entertainment, Gotham Group and Motion Picture Capital. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.8/10 from around 500 votes, while critics gave it 6.3/10 across 53 reviews, a narrower gap than is common, suggesting the film landed about as well with reviewers as with audiences.
