Professor Marston and the Wonder Women

Professor Marston and the Wonder Women is a drama about William Moulton Marston, a Harvard psychologist whose work contributed to the lie detector test. The film follows Marston and his wife Elizabeth, both academics, as their household grows to include Olive Byrne, a former student of his. The three form a close and unconventional relationship that is both romantic and intellectual, and the ideas the women embody, along with their shared life, shape Marston as he develops the superheroine Wonder Woman in 1941. Their arrangement and the character's themes of female strength draw disapproval from those around them, putting pressure on the trio's personal and professional lives.

Angela Robinson directed and wrote the screenplay. The film is her third feature, arriving twelve years after Herbie Fully Loaded, following her debut D.E.B.S. Luke Evans plays Marston, with Rebecca Hall as Elizabeth, Bella Heathcote as Olive Byrne, Connie Britton as Josette Frank, JJ Feild as Charles Guyette and Oliver Platt as M.C. Gaines. It runs 108 minutes.

Released in October 2017, the film had a budget of 7 million USD and earned about 2 million USD worldwide, so it did not recoup its costs theatrically. On IMDb it holds a rating of 7 out of 10 from around 30,000 votes, and on TMDB 7.2 out of 10 from roughly 950 votes. A film critics' rating of 7.3 out of 10 from 180 reviews places it slightly above the audience scores.
