6 Below: Miracle on the Mountain

6 Below: Miracle on the Mountain follows Eric LeMarque, a former professional hockey player who has drifted into drug use and now chases excitement on a snowboard. In February 2004, he heads into the mountains around Mammoth, California, just as a severe winter storm approaches. Ignoring the closure of the trails, he sets off on one more run and becomes stranded in the High Sierra backcountry, where he must endure days of cold, hunger and isolation while confronting the memories and choices that brought him there.

The film is based on LeMarque's own account of his survival, and he shares a screenplay credit with Madison Turner. Scott Waugh directed it, placing it third in the feature run that follows Act of Valor and Need for Speed and precedes Expend4bles, Hidden Strike and Runner. Josh Hartnett plays LeMarque and also produced, with Mira Sorvino as Susan, Sarah Dumont as Sarah and Kale Culley as the young Eric.

Released in October 2017, the film runs 97 minutes. On IMDb it holds 5.7 from around 9,200 votes, and on TMDB 5.8 from roughly 400, while critics' reviews average 4.4 from 18. Audience scores sit somewhat above the critical response, though all three point to a modest reception.
