The Miracle Season

The Miracle Season follows a high school girls' volleyball team in Iowa City after the sudden death of their star player, Caroline "Line" Found. Caroline had led the squad to a state title, and with a new season approaching, her teammates are left grieving and uncertain. Her best friend, Kelley Fliehler, is asked to step into Caroline's role as team leader, while the coach, Kathy Bresnahan, pushes the players to regroup and pursue another championship. The story is based on real events at West High School.

Sean McNamara directed the film, the fourteenth of the twenty-four he has directed in chronological order, between Love in Paradise and Christmas in Evergreen: Letters to Santa. David Aaron Cohen and Elissa Matsueda wrote the screenplay, and Erin Moriarty plays Kelley, with Danika Yarosh as Caroline and Helen Hunt as Coach Bresnahan. William Hurt appears as Caroline's father, Ernie. The film took about 10 million dollars worldwide.

On IMDb, viewers rate the film 7.2 out of 10 from 342 votes, while the critics' score stands at 5.7 out of 10 from 46 reviews, so audiences have responded considerably more warmly than reviewers.
