Bushwick

Bushwick is a 2017 action thriller set in the Brooklyn neighborhood of the same name. Lucy, a young student, steps off the subway to find her street transformed into a combat zone, with armed men in military gear firing on civilians. The conflict stems from Texas moving to secede from the United States, with New York turned into a battleground. Cut off and under fire, Lucy falls in with Stupe, a war veteran and former Marine living in the area, and the two set out together through the chaos, aiming to reach her grandmother's home several blocks away.

The film is directed by Cary Murnion and Jonathan Milott, whose previous feature was Cooties in 2014 and whose next was Becky in 2020. Nick Damici and Graham Reznick wrote the screenplay, and the cast is led by Dave Bautista as Stupe and Brittany Snow as Lucy, with supporting turns from Angelic Zambrana, Jeremie Harris, Myra Lucretia Taylor and Alex Breaux among the thirty credited performers.

On IMDb the film holds a rating of 5.2 out of 10 from 542 votes. A critics' score of 5.5 out of 10 from 77 reviews places it slightly above the audience response, though both sit in mixed territory. Produced by XYZ Films, RLJ Entertainment, Bullet Pictures and Mensch Productions, it runs 94 minutes.
