Come Sunday

Come Sunday tells the story of Carlton Pearson, a prominent evangelical pastor in Tulsa, Oklahoma, who leads a large congregation and enjoys the guidance of his mentor, Oral Roberts. After what he describes as a divine revelation, Pearson begins preaching that Hell does not exist as a place of eternal punishment. His congregation and fellow church leaders reject this teaching, and he is accused of heresy. The controversy spreads beyond his own church, damaging his reputation and threatening everything he has built, including his family and his standing in the religious community. He must decide whether to hold to his new conviction or preserve the life he has worked for.

The film is a drama directed by Joshua Marston, his fourth feature after Maria Full of Grace, New York, I Love You and Complete Unknown. Marcus Hinchey wrote the screenplay, and Alissa Shipp, James D. Stern and Ira Glass produced it through Endgame Entertainment. Chiwetel Ejiofor plays Pearson, with Martin Sheen as Oral Roberts, Danny Glover as Gilbert Pearson, Condola Rashad as Gina Pearson, Jason Segel as Henry and LaKeith Stanfield as Reggie, among 28 credited cast members.
