Inconceivable

A young woman named Katie moves to a new town with her daughter, hoping to leave an abusive past behind. She soon befriends Angela Morgan, a mother who, with her husband Brian, has been wanting to expand their family. The friendship develops to the point that the Morgans invite Katie to live in their guest house and look after their daughter as a nanny. Over time, Katie's attachment to the child grows troubling, and Angela's suspicions about her new friend's intentions deepen, straining the household.

Inconceivable is a crime thriller directed by Jonathan Baker, his first feature, followed by Kin and Fate. Chloe King wrote the screenplay, and the cast is led by Nicolas Cage as Brian, Gina Gershon as Angela, and Nicky Whelan as Katie, with Faye Dunaway, Natalie Eva Marie and James Van Patten in supporting roles. It was produced by Robert Jones, George Furla and Randall Emmett for EFO Films and Baker Entertainment Group, and it runs 105 minutes.

The reception was modest: on IMDb it holds 5.2 out of 10 from around 12,000 votes, and on TMDB 5.5 out of 10 from several hundred. A critics' rating of 4.3 out of 10 from thirteen reviews places professional notices below the audience scores, though neither measure is strong.
