Rawhide

Rawhide is a 1951 Western set at a remote stagecoach relay station in the American West, where Tom Owens works under the older station keeper Sam Todd. When a stagecoach arrives with word that the outlaw Rafe Zimmerman and his men have escaped from prison, a passenger named Vinnie Holt is urged to stay at the station instead of travelling on. Zimmerman's gang soon turns up, seizing the station and holding those inside while they wait for a gold shipment to pass through. Much of the film unfolds in the confined space of the station, with the captives looking for a way to survive and resist.

The film was directed by Henry Hathaway, the sixth of the eighteen features he directed in chronological order, following The Desert Fox: The Story of Rommel and preceding Fourteen Hours, both also from 1951. It was written by Dudley Nichols and produced by Samuel G. Engel for 20th Century Fox. Tyrone Power stars as Tom Owens, with Susan Hayward as Vinnie Holt, Hugh Marlowe as Zimmerman, Dean Jagger, Edgar Buchanan and Jack Elam among the credited cast of twenty-four.

Released in March 1951, the film runs 89 minutes. On IMDb it holds a 7.1 rating from around 3,600 votes, while on TMDB it has a 6.7 from roughly 65 votes, indicating a solid reputation among the larger audience sample.
