Confidential Assignment

A North Korean crime ring crosses into South Korea, prompting an unprecedented joint investigation. A North Korean officer, Im Chul-ryung, is sent south to track down the group's leader, Cha Ki-sung, and he is paired with Seoul detective Kang Jin-tae. The two men must work together despite their different methods and the distrust between their countries.

The film is a South Korean action drama directed by Kim Sung-hoon, working from a screenplay by Yoon Hyun-ho and produced by Ju Seung-hwan. It was the first feature Kim directed in the chronological order of his filmography, before Rampant, Love Barista and CODE : G. Hyun Bin plays Im Chul-ryung and Yoo Hae-jin plays Kang Jin-tae, with Kim Joo-hyuk as Cha Ki-sung, Jang Young-nam, Lee Dong-hwi and Yoona in supporting roles. The production involved 33 credited cast members and 50 credited crew members.

Released in January 2017, the film had a budget of about 9 million US dollars and took roughly 57 million US dollars worldwide, a strong return relative to its cost. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.7 out of 10 from around 5,300 votes, and on TMDB a rating of 6.8 out of 10 from about 150 votes, indicating a generally positive but not unanimous audience response.
