Rescue Under Fire is a Spanish war film set in Afghanistan. A medical helicopter assisting a joint American and United Nations force under Spanish command goes down during a mission. A Spanish unit then has a single night to evacuate the crew and the wounded, a task that grows far more dangerous when orders arrive to recover the downed aircraft as well. As darkness falls, a large Taliban force closes in on the stranded soldiers, turning a routine operation into a fight to survive until morning. The story is based on a real incident.
The film is directed by Adolfo Martínez Pérez from a screenplay by Andrés M. Koppel and Luis Arranz, and produced by Gerardo Herrero. Ariadna Gil plays the military doctor Varela, with Roberto Álamo as Capitán Torres, Antonio Garrido as Comandante Ledesma, Raúl Mérida as Teniente Conte, Ruth Gabriel as Brigada Alvite and Jacobo Dicenta as Sargento 1º Aguilar. It runs 93 minutes.
Released in March 2017, the film took about 5 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.2 out of 10 from roughly 1,900 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.9 out of 10 from 165 votes, a smaller but warmer response.
