Savage Dog is set in Indochina in 1959, in a lawless region run by Vietnamese warlords and European war criminals. The Den-Dhin-Chan labor camp is controlled by a group of dangerous men, among them the fugitive Steiner. Martin Tillman, an Irish former boxing champion, has spent years in the camp and built a reputation in the fighting tournaments staged there, on which wealthy criminals place large bets. He wants only to go home once his release comes due, but the men who profit from him have no intention of letting him walk away, and when violence takes from him what he values most, he turns on those responsible.
Jesse V. Johnson directed and wrote the film, and produced it with Ehud Bleiberg. It is the sixth of the nineteen films he has directed in chronological order, arriving between The Package and Accident Man. Scott Adkins plays Martin, with Marko Zaror as Rastignac, JuJu Chan as Isabelle, Cung Le as Boon, Vladimir Kulich as Steiner and Keith David as Valentine.
The film runs 95 minutes and was released in August 2017. Reception from audiences has been mixed to negative, with a rating of 5 out of 10 on IMDb from roughly 3,570 votes and 5.4 out of 10 on TMDB from a much smaller pool of 138 votes.
