Pornocracy: The New Sex Multinationals examines how the internet reshaped the adult film business. While pornography is consumed on a larger scale than ever, the established studios that once dominated production are struggling, and the money the industry generates has shifted toward free streaming platforms built on huge libraries of clips. The documentary follows the trail from these sites to the corporation behind many of them, and looks at what this change means for the people who make adult films.

The film is directed by Ovidie, a former performer in the industry who appears on camera and guides the investigation. It was her first feature as a director, followed years later by I Shot Andy Warhol: SCUM Manifesto. The cast mixes performers and industry figures, among them Stoya, Arwen Gold, Alina Henessy, Julia Grandi and Mario Salieri; twenty-five people are credited in all.
