Pietro Zinni and the rest of his gang have spent a year behind bars, each of them held in a different prison after being caught at the Sopox production laboratory. From Regina Coeli, Pietro keeps warning the authorities that someone has synthesized a nerve gas and is preparing to use it, but nobody takes his claims seriously. When the gang learns that Walter Mercurio is planning an attack in Rome, they decide they have to get out and stop him, even if that means joining forces with their old adversary Murena and breaking out of Rebibbia to stay ahead of Mercurio's plans.
This is the third entry in Sydney Sibilia's comedy series, released in Italian cinemas on 30 November 2017, running 97 minutes. Edoardo Leo returns as Pietro Zinni, alongside Valerio Aprea, Paolo Calabresi, Libero De Rienzo, Stefano Fresi and Lorenzo Lavia. Sibilia directed it between the first film in 2014 and the 2020 release Rose Island, one of the five features he has directed; the screenplay is by Francesca Manieri, Sibilia and Luigi Di Capua, and Domenico Procacci and Matteo Rovere produced for Groenlandia, RAI Cinema and Fandango, with 34 credited cast members and 60 credited crew.
Audiences rate the film positively: on IMDb it holds 6.8 out of 10 from around 3,700 votes, while on TMDB it scores 7.3 from roughly 1,000 votes. The gap suggests a warm reception among Italian viewers familiar with the series, with the smaller TMDB sample a little more enthusiastic than the broader IMDb pool.
