Leave No Trace

A father and his teenage daughter live hidden in Forest Park, a large nature reserve on the edge of Portland, Oregon, keeping contact with the outside world to a minimum. Their isolated routine is disrupted when a small mistake draws the attention of the authorities, and the two are taken into the care of social services. Offered housing, schooling and work, the father struggles to adjust while his daughter begins to take an interest in the settled life around them, and the pair must weigh their wish to belong against their need to live apart from society.

Debra Granik directed and wrote the screenplay with Anne Rosellini. The film is her second feature after Winter's Bone (2010), and it stars Thomasin McKenzie as Tom and Ben Foster as Will, with Jeff Kober, Dale Dickey, Dana Millican and Alyssa McKay among a credited cast of 27. It was produced by Linda Reisman, Anne Harrison and Anne Rosellini, and shot in Canada and the United States.

Released in June 2018, the drama runs 109 minutes and took about 8 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 7.1 out of 10 from around 70,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.8 from roughly 1,400 votes, a much smaller sample. A critics' rating of 8.6 from 248 reviews places it noticeably above both audience scores.
