The Hatton Garden Job is a British crime thriller based on a real burglary that took place in April 2015. A group of older criminals, led by Brian Reader, plots one last score: breaking into a subterranean safe deposit facility in London's Hatton Garden district, where valuables worth as much as 200 million pounds are stored. The men are past retirement age, but they plan the job in careful detail, and the film follows their attempt to pull it off.
Ronnie Thompson directed the film, his second feature after Tower Block in 2012. The screenplay comes from Ray Bogdanovich, Dean Lines and Thompson, with Ben Jacques producing. Larry Lamb plays Brian Reader, heading a cast that also includes Matthew Goode, Joely Richardson, Phil Daniels, David Calder and Clive Russell.
The film is generally regarded with moderate enthusiasm. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.6 from around 6,700 votes, while on TMDB the rating stands at 5.5 from a small number of votes, suggesting modest approval from those who have seen it. Its critics' score of 3.9 out of 10 from 18 reviews is noticeably lower than the audience scores, indicating a sharper divide between professional and viewer opinions than the audience figures alone would suggest.
