The Night Comes For Us

Ito, an enforcer for a Triad organization, breaks the rules during a massacre when he cannot bring himself to kill a young girl who witnessed the operation. Sparing her turns him into a target, and the criminal network he once served sends its killers after him. Trying to keep the girl, Reina, out of the organization's reach, Ito finds himself drawn into a violent conflict on the streets of Jakarta that sets former associates against one another. The film is an Indonesian crime action thriller built around close-quarters combat and a running pursuit.

Timo Tjahjanto directed and wrote the screenplay, and produced it with Kimo Stamboel and Nick Spicer. It was his fifth directorial feature, following Killers and Headshot, and it arrived in the same year as May the Devil Take You. Joe Taslim plays Ito, with Iko Uwais as Arian, Julie Estelle as The Operator, Sunny Pang as Chien Wu, Asha Kenyeri Bermudez as Reina and Abimana Aryasatya as Fatih among a credited cast of twenty-three. Made for about two million dollars, it was released on October 5, 2018.

On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.9 from roughly 33,000 votes, and on TMDB it also stands at 6.9, from far fewer votes. A film critics' rating of 7.4 from thirty-six reviews places critical opinion somewhat above the broader audience scores.
