1922

Set in rural Nebraska in 1922, the film follows Wilfred James, a proud rancher who has built his life around his land and his teenage son Henry. When his wife Arlette inherits property from her father and wants to sell the farm and move to the city, and then seeks a divorce, Wilfred faces the loss of everything he values. He decides to kill her, drawing Henry into the plan, and hides the body. Afterwards he becomes convinced that rats are pursuing him and that Arlette's ghost is responsible. The story is based on a Stephen King novella.

Zak Hilditch wrote and directed the film, his second feature after These Final Hours (2014). Thomas Jane plays Wilfred, with Molly Parker as Arlette, Dylan Schmid as Henry, Kaitlyn Bernard as Shannon Cotterie and Neal McDonough as Harlan Cotterie.

Released in 2017, the film runs 102 minutes and was produced by Lighthouse Pictures and Campfire Studios on a budget of about 5 million dollars, against a worldwide box office of roughly 3 million. On IMDb it holds 6.2/10 from around 78,000 votes, and on TMDB 5.9/10 from about 3,000 votes. A critics' rating of 6.9/10 from 48 reviews places it slightly above both audience scores. Hilditch went on to direct Rattlesnake (2019) and We Bury the Dead (2026).
