Miss Sloane

Elizabeth Sloane is a Washington lobbyist known for her sharp instincts and for doing whatever it takes to win. When a campaign for stricter background checks on gun buyers gains momentum in Congress, she joins the fight on the side favoring the new law. That decision puts her up against the firearms lobby and a growing circle of political opponents, and her hard-edged tactics begin to threaten both her career and the people close to her.

John Madden directed the film, the twelfth of fourteen he has made in chronological order, following The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and preceding Operation Mincemeat. Jonathan Perera wrote the screenplay, and Ariel Zeitoun, Ben Browning and Kris Thykier produced. Jessica Chastain plays the title role, with Mark Strong, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Alison Pill, Michael Stuhlbarg and Jake Lacy among the main cast.
