Ava is a drama centered on a thirteen-year-old girl spending her summer on the Atlantic coast. After discovering she will lose her eyesight sooner than anticipated, Ava struggles to process the news while her mother attempts to maintain a sense of normalcy to ensure they have a memorable vacation. Seeking her own way to cope, Ava steals a large black dog belonging to a young man who is currently on the run.
The film marks the first directing effort by Léa Mysius, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Paul Guilhaume. The movie features Noée Abita in the title role, alongside Laure Calamy and Juan Cano. Produced in France by companies including Canal+ and ARTE France Cinéma, the production had a budget of 3 million USD.
