Short description
Forced into exile by the English after being crowned King of Scotland, legendary warrior Robert the Bruce fights to reclaim the throne.
What's left behind the scenes
- After the film was shown at the Toronto Film Festival, director David Mackenzie decided to cut it by 20 minutes.
- Some scenes of the film were shot in the town of Berwick-upon-Tweed. As a result of the constant Anglo-Scottish Wars, over the period from 1296 to 1482, the town changed hands between England and Scotland 13 times. This first happened during the lifetime of Robert I of Scotland (1274-1329).
- The initial version of the film lasted over 4 hours.
