Support the Girls

Lisa Conroy manages Double Whammies, a highway-side sports bar staffed by women in revealing uniforms. She looks after her employees both on and off the clock, defending them from customers who overstep and supporting them through personal troubles. Over the course of a single long, difficult day, she tries to keep the business running, keep her staff together and hold on to her optimism while problems pile up, including trouble with the bar's owner, Cubby.

Andrew Bujalski wrote and directed the film, his fifth feature after Funny Ha Ha, Mutual Appreciation, Beeswax and Computer Chess. Regina Hall plays Lisa, with Haley Lu Richardson, Shayna McHayle, James Le Gros, Dylan Gelula and Lea DeLaria among the cast. Sam Slater and Houston King produced.

The film was released in 2018 and runs 91 minutes. Its critical standing is notably stronger than its audience scores: critics gave it 7.7 out of 10 from 158 reviews, while on IMDb it holds 6.4 from around 8,800 votes and on TMDB 6.1 from 195 votes, suggesting a warm reception among reviewers but a more modest response from general viewers.
