Yalghaar is a Pakistani war drama centred on a military operation carried out over roughly seventy-six hours in the Piochar area of the Swat district. Drawing on real events, it follows young officers and soldiers through the operation, tracing their commitment to the mission and to their country alongside the pressures they face in the field. Colonel Asad and Lieutenant Colonel Imran are among the officers leading the effort, while Trojan, a militant, represents the opposing side of the conflict, and Zarmina and Baran are drawn into the wider struggle. The film mixes action and thriller elements with the personal stories of the men and women caught up in the fighting.
The film was directed by Hassan Rana, who also wrote the screenplay with Haider Rizvi, and produced by Waqas Butt for MindWorks Media. It runs 150 minutes and was released in June 2017. Shaan Shahid heads a cast of twenty-six credited performers that also includes Humayun Saeed, Adnan Siddiqui, Ayesha Omar, Ayub Khoso and Gohar Rasheed. Made on a budget of about 3 million US dollars, it is a large-scale production by Pakistani standards, built around an ensemble of well-known local actors.
Audience response has been moderate. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.3 from around 1,100 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.9 from a small number of votes. The larger IMDb sample suggests a reasonably favourable view among those who sought the film out, with the limited TMDB activity reflecting its modest reach beyond its home market.
