Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend

Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend follows Ferruccio Lamborghini, a farmer's son from Emilia-Romagna who built tractors before turning to high-end sports cars. The film traces his early business career, including the manufacture of military vehicles during World War II, and his decision to found Automobili Lamborghini in 1963. Central to the story is his rivalry with Enzo Ferrari, the established name in Italian sports cars, whom Ferruccio set out to challenge. The narrative is drawn from a book by Ferruccio's son, Tonino.

Bobby Moresco directed and wrote the screenplay, with Andrea Iervolino, Monika Bacardi and Danielle Maloni producing. It is Moresco's third feature as director, following 10th & Wolf and Bent. Frank Grillo plays the adult Ferruccio, with Romano Reggiani as the younger Ferruccio, Gabriel Byrne as Enzo Ferrari, Mira Sorvino as Anita Borgatti and Hannah van der Westhuysen as Clelia Monti. The Italian-American production cost about 2 million dollars and took in roughly the same amount worldwide.

The film has a 5.5 rating on IMDb from around 17,000 votes and a 6.4 on TMDB from 764 votes, while critics gave it 3.7 out of 10 across 16 reviews, placing it well below the audience scores. Moresco went on to direct Maserati: The Brothers in 2026, another film about an Italian car marque.
