Slaughterhouse Rulez

Slaughterhouse Rulez is set at an elite British boarding school where tradition, snobbery and a harsh social hierarchy shape daily life. New arrival Don Wallace, a boy from an ordinary background, is placed in the house reserved for those who are neither gifted athletes nor star scholars, and he soon falls for a fellow pupil, Clemsie Lawrence. His roommate Willoughby Blake is guarding a secret, and the counsellor Meredith Houseman appears to know more than he admits. Nearby, a fracking operation has opened an enormous hole in the ground, and something monstrous comes out of it, turning the school into a battleground where students and staff must fight to survive.

Crispian Mills directed and co-wrote the film with Henry Fitzherbert, with Charlotte Walls producing. It was Mills's second feature as director, following his 2012 debut A Fantastic Fear of Everything. Finn Cole leads as Don, alongside Asa Butterfield, Hermione Corfield, Simon Pegg, Michael Sheen and Nick Frost; 42 cast members and 112 crew are credited. Released on 31 October 2018, the film runs 104 minutes.

Reception was muted. On IMDb it holds 5.3/10 from over 16,000 votes, and on TMDB 5.6/10 from roughly 500 votes, while the critics' rating stands at 4.9/10 from 34 reviews. Audience and critics broadly agreed that the horror-comedy hybrid landed modestly with viewers, with the larger IMDb sample placing it a little below the director's debut in standing.
