J.T. LeRoy

J.T. LeRoy is a drama based on the true story of a literary hoax that unfolded over six years. Laura Albert wrote books under the name Jeremiah "Terminator" LeRoy, a persona she presented to the public as a transgender man. When interest in the author's identity grew, she put forward Savannah Knoop, her sister's partner, to appear in public as LeRoy. Together they sustained the deception through readings, interviews and encounters with figures in Hollywood, the fashion industry and the literary world, until questions about who LeRoy really was could no longer be avoided.

The film was directed by Justin Kelly, who also wrote the screenplay with Savannah Knoop. It followed Kelly's earlier feature King Cobra, released three years before. Kristen Stewart plays Savannah Knoop, with Laura Dern as Laura Albert. Diane Kruger, Jim Sturgess, Courtney Love and Kelvin Harrison Jr. are also in the cast, which runs to 36 credited performers.

The film runs 105 minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.5 out of 10 from around 3,000 votes, and on TMDB it also stands at 5.5 out of 10, from roughly 102 votes.
