Close follows Sam Carlson, a security expert who normally works in conflict zones, and who is hired to protect Zoe Tanner, a young wealthy heiress. The two women have little in common and neither welcomes the arrangement, but a violent attempt to abduct Zoe forces them to run. Hunted by professional attackers, Sam becomes Zoe's only means of surviving, and the pair must work together to stay alive and uncover who is behind the pursuit. The film is set largely in Bangkok.

Vicky Jewson directed and co-wrote the screenplay with Rupert Whitaker; all three, along with Jason Newmark, produced. Close is the first of the two features Jewson has directed, ahead of Pretty Lethal in 2026. Noomi Rapace plays Sam and Sophie Nélisse plays Zoe, with Indira Varma, Eoin Macken, Akin Gazi and Sargon Yelda among the supporting cast. Around two dozen actors are credited.

Released in 2019, the thriller runs 95 minutes. It drew modest audience scores, sitting at 5.7 out of 10 on IMDb from roughly 29,000 votes, and 6 out of 10 on TMDB from a much smaller pool of about 735 votes. A critics' rating of 5.4 out of 10 across 35 reviews places professional opinion slightly below the larger IMDb audience figure. Critical and viewer responses alike indicate a mixed reception rather than a strong one.
