Kedarnath is a Hindi-language romance set in the Himalayan town of Kedarnath, a pilgrimage site at high altitude where visitors travel to reach an ancient temple. Mansoor, a quiet, reserved porter, earns his living helping pilgrims on the difficult climb. His life changes when he meets Mukku, the rebellious daughter of a local family that runs a guesthouse for travellers. Her father wants her to marry a respected Brahmin, but Mukku has no interest in an arranged match, and she and Mansoor fall in love. Their relationship runs against local custom because Mansoor is Muslim and Mukku is Hindu, and the disapproval around them grows as a disaster threatens the region.
The film was directed by Abhishek Kapoor and written by Kanika Dhillon, with Pragya Kapoor and Ronnie Screwvala producing. It followed Kapoor's 2008 film Rock On!! and came years before his 2025 release Azaad. Sushant Singh Rajput plays Mansoor, and Sara Ali Khan appears as Mandakini, known as Mukku. The supporting cast includes Nitish Bharadwaj, Alka Amin, Sonali Sachdev and Pooja Gor.
Kedarnath was released in December 2018 and runs for two hours. It took about 14 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.8 from roughly 16,000 votes, while on TMDB its rating is 6.6 from about 50 votes. The larger IMDb sample suggests a reasonably positive but not unanimous response.
