Intimate Confessions of a Chinese Courtesan

Intimate Confessions of a Chinese Courtesan is a 1972 Hong Kong action drama from director Chor Yuen, based on a screenplay by Chiu Kang-Chien and produced by Runme Shaw for Shaw Brothers. Its story centres on Ainu, a young woman of eighteen who is abducted and sold into a brothel. Her looks and defiant spirit make her popular with the brothel's clients, while also drawing the attention of the establishment's madam, Chun Yi, who takes charge of her education in both desire and martial arts. Over time, Ainu grows to resemble the woman who holds her, but her anger at how she has been treated continues to burn, and she works toward settling the score with those responsible.

Lily Ho plays the lead, with Betty Pei Ti as Chun Yi, Elliot Ngok Wah as Chief Constable Chi Te, and Tung Lin, Wan Chung-Shan and Fan Mei-Sheng among a credited cast of forty-eight. The film runs eighty-seven minutes and was released in September 1972.

It was the earliest of the six films listed for Chor Yuen, who went on to direct The Magic Blade, The Emperor and His Brother, The Enchantress, Mad, Mad 83 and The Hidden Power of the Dragon Sabre. It holds a rating of 7.1 on IMDb from around 1,400 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.2 from a much smaller base of fifty.
