Wheelman

Wheelman centers on a getaway driver who is hired to ferry two bank robbers from their score to a safe drop-off. While the robbery is under way, he receives a call from a man who claims to be the crime's organizer and orders him to speed off with the money, abandoning his passengers in the parking lot. Cut off from anyone he can vouch for, he follows the instructions while trying to work out who is really on the other end of the line. His teenage daughter Katie, meanwhile, is home alone with a boyfriend he does not trust, and she becomes the one person he can still turn to as the night closes in on him.

Jeremy Rush wrote and directed the film, his first feature, followed years later by Ballistic. Frank Grillo, who also produced alongside Joe Carnahan and Myles Nestel, leads a cast that includes Caitlin Carmichael, Garret Dillahunt, Shea Whigham, Wendy Moniz and John Cenatiempo. Made for a modest budget, the film runs eighty-two minutes and is set almost entirely behind the wheel.

On IMDb it holds a 6.4 rating from around twenty-four thousand votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.1 from roughly seven hundred. A critics' score of 7 out of 10 across twenty-three reviews puts professional opinion somewhat above the general audience response.
