Short description

A Boston campus becomes the hunting ground for a killer who attacks female students and takes parts of their bodies away. The police investigation is led by a detective, and a policewoman goes undercover at the university in an attempt to draw the murderer out. The case points toward someone with a connection to a violent episode from decades earlier, and the inquiry spreads through the school's staff and students as the killings continue.

Pieces was directed by Juan Piquer Simón, its third feature after Journey to the Centre of the Earth and Supersonic Man, and it was followed by The Rift in 1990. The screenplay is credited to Dick Randall and Roberto Loyola, with Randall producing alongside Stephen Minasian. The cast includes Christopher George as Det. Lt. Bracken, Lynda Day George as Mary Riggs, Frank Braña, Edmund Purdom, Ian Sera and Paul L. Smith, among 21 credited performers. The film runs 85 minutes and was produced in Spain by Almena Films, reaching cinemas in August 1982.

On IMDb it holds 6 out of 10 from around 14,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.9 from roughly 291 votes. A critics' rating of 4.4 out of 10 from 15 reviews places it below both audience scores. Its worldwide box office came to about 2 million dollars, a modest return for a low-budget horror release of the period.
