Bigger

Bigger is a drama about Joe and Ben Weider, the brothers behind the fitness and bodybuilding movement. Growing up poor and facing antisemitism and racism, they were drawn as boys to the strongmen performing in the circuses of the 1930s, and went on to train with homemade weights and discarded car tires. Bodybuilding became their profession: in 1946 they founded the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness, and their training and nutrition methods helped shape the sport. Joe also championed young talent, among them an Austrian bodybuilder who came to the United States to train.

The film was directed by George Gallo, who wrote the screenplay with Andy Weiss and Brad Furman. It is the seventh of the ten features Gallo directed, arriving between Middle Men and The Poison Rose. Tyler Hoechlin plays Joe Weider and Aneurin Barnard plays Ben Weider, with Julianne Hough as Betty Weider, Victoria Justice as Kathy Weider, Colton Haynes as Jack Lalanne and DJ Qualls as Michael Steere. Twenty-three cast members are credited.

Bigger runs 107 minutes and was released in October 2018. On TMDB it holds a rating of 7 out of 10 from 87 votes, a modest tally that suggests a small audience.
