Cosmopolis

Eric Packer is a 28-year-old asset manager whose fortune has made him one of the wealthiest men in Manhattan. One day he decides to cross the city in his stretch limousine to get a haircut at the barbershop his father used. The trip becomes an odyssey: a presidential motorcade, a riot and other disruptions keep forcing his driver to change route, while Packer conducts meetings, submits to medical checks and follows the markets from screens inside the car. Over the course of a single day his position collapses, his marriage to the heiress Elise Shifrin comes under strain, and he becomes convinced that someone intends to kill him.

The film is David Cronenberg's nineteenth feature as director, following A Dangerous Method and preceding Maps to the Stars; he also wrote the screenplay and produced alongside Paulo Branco and Martin Katz. It adapts Don DeLillo's novel. Robert Pattinson leads as Packer, with Juliette Binoche, Sarah Gadon, Mathieu Amalric, Jay Baruchel and Kevin Durand among the cast, which numbers 29 credited performers.

Released in May 2012, the film was made for about 21 million dollars and returned roughly 7 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 5.1/10 from 52,000 votes and on TMDB 5.7/10 from 1,378 votes; a critics' rating stands at 6.1/10 from 185 reviews, the highest of the three.
