Simmba centres on Sangram Bhalerao, known as Simmba, a police officer in India who uses his position for personal gain and shows little regard for the rules he is meant to enforce. His comfortable arrangement is disrupted by an event that changes his life and pushes him toward a different path, forcing him to weigh the conduct he has relied on against a sense of duty. The film mixes action and comedy with crime and drama, and it runs 159 minutes.
Rohit Shetty directed and shares screenplay credit with Yunus Sajawal and Sajid Samji, while Karan Johar, Hiroo Johar and Shetty produced it through Reliance Entertainment, Dharma Productions and Rohit Shetty Productionz. Ranveer Singh plays the title role, with Sara Ali Khan, Sonu Sood, Ashutosh Rana, Ashwini Kalsekar and Vijay Patkar among the cast. It followed Shetty's Singham Returns (2014) and Dilwale (2015) in his filmography.
Released on 27 December 2018, the film drew a 6.1 rating on TMDB from around 105 votes, indicating a modest level of engagement there. A critics' rating of 4.8 from 11 reviews sits below that audience figure, suggesting reviewers were less favourable toward the film than viewers were. On IMDb, ratings are lower than on TMDB.
