A martial arts student at a Chinese boxing school crosses paths with thugs who bully ordinary townspeople, and his interference draws the anger of a rival school's master. That master hires fighters from several countries to destroy the school in retaliation. The student survives the massacre badly wounded, loses an arm, and trains to master special techniques before facing the enemy again.
Jimmy Wang Yu directed and wrote the film and stars as Yu Tien-Lung, with Lung Fei, Ma Chi, Cindy Tang Hsin, Hsueh Han and Tien Yeh in supporting roles. Raymond Chow Man-Wai produced. The story is one of the revenge-driven martial arts films that were common in Hong Kong and Taiwan cinema of the early 1970s, and the protagonist's missing arm gives the fights a distinctive shape. It was Wang Yu's first directorial credit, followed by Master of the Flying Guillotine in 1976. This film also shares the "one-armed" premise he had already played in The One-Armed Swordsman, but shifted into a modern boxing-school setting.
On IMDb it holds a 6.8 rating from around 1,600 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 7 out of 10 from a much smaller base of 72 ratings. Both scores point to a steady, if modest, following rather than broad popularity.
