Thunder Road

A Texas police officer, Jim Arnaud, is struggling through a difficult period in his life. He is dealing with a divorce and fighting for custody of his young daughter, Crystal, while also grieving the death of his mother. His attempts to hold things together and to be a good father are bound up with his feelings for his mother, and his way of coping with setbacks has often been anger, aggression and an unusual dancing style.

Thunder Road is a comedy-drama written and directed by Jim Cummings, who also stars as Jim Arnaud. Made with Benjamin Wiessner, Natalie Metzger and Zack Parker producing, it was Cummings's first feature as director, ahead of The Wolf of Snow Hollow and The Beta Test, and it expanded a short film he had made earlier. The cast includes Kendal Farr as Crystal, Nican Robinson as fellow officer Nate Lewis, Jocelyn DeBoer and Chelsea Edmundson as Rosalind and Morgan Arnaud, and Macon Blair as Dustin Zahn.

The film was released in 2018 and runs 91 minutes. On IMDb it holds a 6.8 rating from 464 votes, while its critics' rating stands at 7.8 from 87 reviews, so reviewers rated it noticeably higher than the wider audience did.
