The Jurassic Games

In the near future, ten death row inmates are given a chance to win their freedom by taking part in a virtual reality competition. Placed in an arena together, they must survive both each other and dinosaurs, and dying inside the game means dying in real life as well. One of the contestants, Anthony Tucker, was convicted of murdering his wife, a crime he did not commit, and sees the contest as his only way back to his children.

The Jurassic Games was released in 2018 and runs 86 minutes. It is an American production from High Octane Pictures, directed by Ryan Bellgardt, who also wrote the screenplay and produced alongside Andy Swanson and Josh McKamie. The film sits first in Bellgardt's directing chronology, ahead of The Adventures of Jurassic Pet 2: The Lost Secret and Ghoster, both from 2023, The Adventures of Jurassic Pet: Return to the Wild from 2024, and The Jurassic Games: Extinction from 2025. The cast of 36 credited performers is led by Ryan Merriman, Perrey Reeves, Adam Hampton, Katie Burgess, Daniel Barton and Ron Clemons.

Audience response has been modest: on IMDb the film holds a rating of 3.9 from around 3,400 votes, and on TMDB it stands at 4.6 from 167 votes. A smaller group of critics rated it 6 out of 10 across nine reviews, a more favourable figure than the audience scores suggest.
