Wounds

Wounds is a horror mystery thriller set in New Orleans, where a bartender named Will finds a phone that a customer left behind at his bar. He takes it home and begins looking through it, and the messages, images and calls he encounters there pull him into a disturbing chain of events that he cannot control. Strange things start happening around him, including injuries to his body he cannot account for, and his relationship with his girlfriend Carrie suffers as his attention to the phone consumes more of his life.

The film was directed by Babak Anvari, who also wrote the screenplay and produced it alongside Lucan Toh and Christopher Kopp. It is his second feature, following Under the Shadow in 2016 and preceding I Came By in 2022 and Hallow Road in 2025. Armie Hammer plays Will, with Dakota Johnson as Carrie, Zazie Beetz as Alicia, and supporting turns from Brad William Henke, Karl Glusman and Christin Rankins among a credited cast of 24.

Wounds was released in 2019 and runs 95 minutes. It is a British and American production from Annapurna Pictures, AZA Films and Two & Two Pictures. Audience response has been limited: on IMDb it holds 4.1 out of 10 from around 24,000 votes, and on TMDB it sits at 4 out of 10 from 877 votes, while a film critics' rating stands at 5.1 out of 10 from 60 reviews, more favorable than the viewer scores.
