71: Into the Fire

Based on real events, this war film is set in August 1950 during the Korean War. As South Korean forces retreat toward the Nakdong River, a small group of 71 student soldiers is left behind to protect the city of Pohang. Stationed at a local girls' high school, these inexperienced volunteers must defend their position against a numerically superior North Korean army while waiting for reinforcements. The conflict focuses on their struggle to hold a strategic point under extreme pressure.

The movie was directed by John H. Lee, who previously directed A Moment to Remember in 2004 and later went on to helm The Third Way of Love in 2015 and Operation Chromite in 2016. The cast features Kwon Sang-woo, Choi Seung-hyun, Kim Seung-woo, Cha Seung-won, Kim Hye-seong, and Ku Sung-hwan.

Produced by Finecut, CJ Entertainment, Korean Film Council, and Lotte Entertainment, the film had a budget of 10 million USD and earned 21 million USD at the worldwide box office. Audiences responded positively to the production, as shown by a rating of 7.3/10 on IMDb from 6,100 votes and a rating of 7.6/10 on TMDB from 219 votes.
