• During filming, Jack Black kept a video blog for the Jablinski Games YouTube channel.
• The film is set three years after the events of the previous film in the "Jumanji" franchise, "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" (Jake Kasdan, 2017).
• The scene in which the heroes escape from monkeys by jumping from one suspension bridge to another is a reference to the classic computer game Super Mario Bros. from 1985 (listed in the "Guinness Book of World Records" as the best-selling game in history).
• Some of the film's characters are unable to remember what happened in the original film because those events were erased when the game was reloaded and resumed from the point where Alan found himself. Similarly, only some characters remember the timeline in which Alex was missing for 20 years.
