Jumanji: The Next Level

Jumanji: The Next Level continues the story of a group of friends who return to the world of Jumanji after one of them goes missing inside the game. They soon find that the game has changed in ways they did not anticipate, and they are joined by unexpected new players whose arrival complicates matters. To get home, the group must travel through regions of the game they have never seen before.

Jake Kasdan directed and co-wrote the film, following his earlier Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. Among his other credits are Zero Effect, Orange County, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, Bad Teacher and Sex Tape. Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan reprise their roles, with Awkwafina and Nick Jonas also appearing. The screenplay was written by Scott Rosenberg, Kasdan and Jeff Pinkner, and Johnson, Kasdan and Matt Tolmach produced.

Released in December 2019, the film cost about 125 million dollars and earned roughly 802 million dollars worldwide, a strong return against its budget. On IMDb it holds 6.6 out of 10 from around 317,000 votes, and on TMDB it stands at 6.9 from a much smaller base of about 9,600. A critics' rating of 6.1 from 249 reviews places it somewhat below the audience scores on both sites.
